blackcurrant • blackberry • wild plum • honey

Some of Yunnan's oldest tea trees have never known cultivation. They grow untamed in mountain forests, following their own rhythm. Ye Sheng Hong Cha captures that wild spirit.

Size

about 10 mugs or 5 gongfu sessions

Bright berries, deep sweetness, and an energy that feels alive - like wandering off the path and finding exactly what you were looking for.

BREWING GUIDE

Gong Fu Cha:
5 g / 100 ml · 93-96°C · 10–15 seconds, up to 6-8 infusions
Unfolds in waves: from a berry-like tartness to a honeyed sweetness.

Western Style:
3 g / 300 ml · 95°C · Infuse for 3–5 min
A more straightforward liquor - fruity and gently astringent.

TASTING PROFILE

Intense, rich, with wild 'fruit and berry' undertones. Notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, wild plum, and a light astringency. The aftertaste is bright and long, with an echo of fruity acidity. The infusion is deep ruby and dense.

FERMENTATION & OXIDATION

Full fermentation (similar to "average" red teas)

Because these leaves are harvested from wild trees, the natural oxidation process - where the leaves gently rest and breathe in the oxygen - awakens vibrant flavor compounds you won't find in classic black teas.

This is exactly what gives the tea its beautifully wild, berry-like aroma.

STORY & SOURCING

In Yunnan they say: "Wild tea is for a wild heart." Ye Sheng Hong Cha is made from uncultivated trees that grow in forests without human intervention. Its taste feels like an encounter with nature in its purest form - unpredictable and always alive.

FOOD PAIRING

We always recommend sipping all our teas solo to appreciate its pure, unmasked character. But if you wish to pair it with a bite, choose mindfully :)

If you’re pairing, try these:

Berry desserts (blueberry cheesecake, raspberry tart)
Dark chocolate with fruity notes
Sharp cheeses (Blue cheese, Roquefort)
Summer fruits (plums, peaches)

feels like:

Unexpected energy, creative flow, and a little beautiful chaos.

Before water. After water.

When to drink:

First half of the day, creative sessions, gatherings with friends.
Vibrant, berry-forward, high-energy - brings a touch of chaotic beauty in the best way possible.
